As a University of Iowa Alumni - Pancheros is a STAPLE of my visits back to the area. This time around I was not dissapointed even though we chose to check out this location rather than the usual downtown Iowa City one. Service was quick, the burrito was delicious, the queso was ah-mah-zing (per usual) and the Mello yellow was flowing! The prefect brunch for the day after a football game extravaganza!

Don't get me wrong. I love Pancheros so much, and I would love to swim in a vat of their queso. But this location... This location is the absolute worst. Their employees used to be awful, but that has improved. It's their food. It is consistently disappointing. Their queso isn't made right, sometimes their chicken is undercooked... Sometimes your burrito is just gross. The only good thing about this place is location. But then the problem is you want to gamble against the odds and hope that you get a halfway decent burrito instead of making the trip into Coralville. Just.... Don't: just drive into Coralville. Your stomach and mouth will thank you.

I'm a Panchero's convert. I used to be a Chipotle fan but after many experiences of their super loud environments and that they don't MIX their burrito ingredients I've come to the Panchero's chain side. I was in North Liberty with a few hours to burn as my girlfriend was at a baby shower. I stopped into this location and when the line of customers became long it was "all hands on deck" - workers from the back came up to help with the rush. I ordered two tacos for $5. I experienced nothing but friendly fast service. People who complain about the price.. it's the add ons stupid. I ordered one pork and one chicken - the pork was hands down amazing. Fast food superior. I'm also a big fan of the bottled hot sauces - do they sell these? Great quick cheap lunch. Why the four star? The mens' bathroom was pretty disgusting.

I went here on a Sunday morning and this black lady with a neck tattoo working was the most rude employee I have EVER come across. It has nothing to do with the fact that she's black but the owner should have a description. She gave me a look of contempt the whole time I was ordering and never said one word. Not hello, not thank you, NOTHING. It was the weirdest experience, I will never go back because of her.

This is a standard Panchero's as far as I can tell. It's clean and the staff is effective and friendly.

I get paying $1 per scoop of vegetables, but if you're going to add half scoops and still charge me? What a ripoff. The employees are rude and the food isn't great. Won't be visiting again.

total rip off, ten bucks for a burrito and soda? a dollar for "fajita" pepper and onions? it's better than chipotle but that certainly isn't saying much. I guess for small town iowa it's an ok choice

I do not know how this restaurant can call it's food Mexican. It's the furthest from Mexican as can be. We moved to Iowa from Arizona and were excited to try Pancheros and their 'homemade' tortillas. We were extremely disappointed. Their 'homemade' tortillas were not very good. The amount of queso received was laughable for the price. Extremely overpriced food. For our family if 4 it cost about $40, 2 small children (4 & 6 y/o). We did not get a lot of food and I drank water. The burritos may be big BUT they should be ginormous for the price. There is no kids menu either. If I'm going to pay $40 for dinner for a family of four, I want to get a full meal & be serviced, not go to a cafeteria style restaurant.

The Panchero's brand is spreading. Now in The NL! Panchero's in and of its self is okay. Good ingredients, good taste. And this location does have later hours on the weekends. If you want mexican, and you want it fast, this is your place. My only complaint is that they seem to charge for everything, and while it looks deceptively cheap at the outset, before you know it, food for two totals up to $25, not very cheap for fast food. So watch what you get. All in all though good to see something coming to the 965 corridor other than 24hr gyms, tanning, chiropractors, and banks!

Simply amazing. Best Mexican Grill in the county. The burritos are large and Tasty. Makes a great drunk or chat day meal. Quick and fast to order and great to grab on the go. Open late for a good late night meal. Don't eat it often but when I do I eat Pancheros

I enjoy Panchero's I like the burrito bowl, but they are so stingy sometimes it makes me mad. Seriously are you going to count the number of beans next? I say you charge enough for the burrito, a dollar extra for guac is a bit much.

I ordered a chicken quesadilla, chips and queso, and a water to drink. $8.39 was my total- pop would have brought the bill up to $10. The quesadilla consisted of tortilla, cheese, and a scoop of chicken. Very basic. I think Taco Bell's quesadilla has more flavor. Best part of any Panchero's visit is the chips and queso- it's delish. I seem to enjoy the Panchero's dt Iowa City location better, but that could be because I'm usually ham-boned when I eat there.

The service is okay. The food is average. They really should call their burritos 'Belly Bomb's" because if you eat one you'll feel like a Tactical Nuke went off. The Quesadillas I like but are way too expensive for what you get. The one thing that is really terrible are their 'fresh' tortillas. They always feel undercooked. My grandma used to make authentic fresh tortillas and they were not slimy and doughy. If you need a giant burrito and are in the North Liberty area I wouldn't say don't go just don't expect to be impressed.

I instantly regret it every time I go to this location. I love Panchero's and Chipotle equally, but since I live in Coralville, I tend to go to Panchero's more often. I go to this location more often now because of all the construction and detours on 380 or I have to stop at my bank in North Liberty. Last time I went there the person preparing my bowl proceeded to make my bowl for me. He asked, "Rice & black beans" ... No, "Rice & PINTO beans" ... "Chicken?" "No, carnitas" ... then he put veggies on it without me even asking. The other very nice guy took over and remade my dish and gave me double punches on my card so I could have this for free. They never have enough ingredients out so they are scrapping the bottom of the tins for your food. I actually got food poisoning from my last visit. And they all must be hard of hearing because half the time I have to repeat my order and by the time I'm done ordering & I get home, my food is cold and so is my boyfriend's.

Clear off the bat, I'm going to say that I'm a Chipotle fan when it comes to this style of Mexican food. So going into Panchero's always has me comparing it to the superior food at Chipotle. Even so, here is my review of Panchero's. The food at the line always looks as though it's been left out there for the last couple of hours and they are waiting until the very last bit has been used before they replenish the pickings. Granted, I seem to come in during the non-rush times, but is it too much to ask for fresh food? The freshly made tortillas, a good idea in theory, always taste underdone to me. The other thing I don't like about Panchero's is how they nickel-and-dime you. I understand if you want extra protein, but come on, extra, or a second salsa is more? REALLY?! The last step is when they try to "bob" your burrito. This is when they want to mix everything in your burrito together with what looks like a paddle for serving rice. If you don't want your burrito "bobbed", they look at you like you are crazy. If you do, you get to see them toss the used paddle into a receptacle on the line. Eww. Just as you want to enjoy your food you see ten other used paddles crusted with someone else's food. Maybe hide that behind the line, you know where the customers can't see them... Finally, the food. It tastes unseasoned. Definitely not spicy (even their HOT salsa!) although this may be tied to their mid-western origins. I recommend saving your money and heading to Chipotle or an authentic Mexican restaurant.

Good food, similar to Chipotle or Qdoba. Burrito is $6.50

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
